Exercise & Movement
Exercise, prescribed by your doctor, not a trainer.
Exercise medicine is one of Dr Matthew's areas of expertise. But this is not a gym or a fitness app. It is clinical exercise prescription, assessed and individualised by an Australian registered doctor, and integrated with the rest of your care, not bolted on as a side service.

What exercise medicine means here
Because Cedar Men's Health is a telehealth service, your doctor cannot watch you squat or correct your form. What he can do, and does do, is the part that matters most for your health: assess whether exercise is safe for you, prescribe an individualised plan, and review your progress as part of your ongoing care.
This is clinical exercise prescription. It sits alongside your blood results, your symptoms, and any other care you are receiving, and it is adjusted by your doctor as your health changes, not handed to you as a one-off program.
Where it can help
Exercise is medicine for a wide range of men's health concerns. Your doctor may incorporate it into your care plan where it is clinically appropriate for:
Metabolic health, blood sugar, and weight management
Cardiovascular risk reduction and blood pressure
Low energy, fatigue, and mood
Joint and musculoskeletal concerns
Sleep and stress
Healthy ageing and maintaining capacity
How it works
Exercise medicine is not a separate appointment. It is part of your consultation and ongoing care, woven in where your doctor decides it is clinically appropriate.
Assess
Your doctor reviews your medical history, symptoms, blood results, and risk factors to determine what level and type of exercise is safe and appropriate for you. This is the step most men skip, and it is where telehealth adds genuine clinical value.
Prescribe
If clinically appropriate, your doctor builds an individualised exercise plan calibrated to your goals, current capacity, and any health conditions. It is written, structured, and integrated with the rest of your care, not a generic template.
Track
Your exercise prescription lives in a free app you can use between consultations. It helps you follow the plan, log your activity, and track progress, so your doctor has real data to review at your follow-up, not just your recollection.
Review
At follow-up consultations, your doctor reviews your progress alongside any new blood results or symptoms, and adjusts the plan as clinically appropriate. Exercise is treated as part of your care, not a set-and-forget handout.
Your prescription, in a free app
Dr Matthew offers patients a free exercise app, but it is not a fitness product. It is a clinical tool that carries your exercise prescription, helps you follow it between consultations, and lets you log the progress your doctor reviews at your follow-up. The app serves your care plan. Your care plan does not serve the app.
Access to the app is provided through your consultation, not as a standalone download. Your doctor will set it up with you if and when it is clinically appropriate.
What this is not
Being clear about the boundaries keeps the care honest.
Personal training or hands-on coaching. Your doctor cannot observe your form or correct technique through a screen.
A fitness or optimisation service. The goal is health, not performance enhancement or aesthetics.
A replacement for your GP, physiotherapist, or an in-person trainer where hands-on assessment is needed.
A guaranteed outcome. Your doctor may recommend no exercise plan, further testing, or referral to another provider.
Part of your care
Exercise medicine is not a separate service or a separate fee. Where your doctor decides it is appropriate, it is incorporated into your consultation and care plan at no additional cost.
Your GP stays involved
If hands-on assessment is needed, your doctor can coordinate with your GP, physiotherapist, or an in-person trainer. He stays the clinical anchor, not a replacement for the people who can see you in person.
